Ella having a questionable "Asian obsession" on 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days is being called out by fans who think she’s generalizing the culture and may think all Asians are the same. The trailers for season 5 of the 90 Day Fiancé spin-off pretty much gave away that Ella has an Asian fetish, which made her seek out her boyfriend, Johnny. Ella described Kurama from YuYu Hakusho, a fictional character from a Japanese anime, as her ideal partner, but she ended up finding a Chinese partner, Johnny, in her "White Women Asian Men" group.
On 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days, Ella went on making several offensive remarks about Asians and stereotyping them, which a few TLC viewers thought was racist. The 29-year-old Ella told the cameras that she had a lot in common with her “Asian Prince” Johnny because they both love anime, and he has an obsession with “Western culture” as she does with “Asian culture.” She confessed that she wasn’t treated well in her past relationships, but Johnny, her official boyfriend of six months, has Ella convinced that he is very supportive and will be helping her lose her extra weight.

However, while Ella explained that Johnny would be cooking for her, she exclaimed, “We’ve talked about healthier meals. He’s gonna do the cooking. I mean, he’s Asian, so it’s friggin' healthy.” Later, when Ella, who's being compared to Deavan Clegg, joined her friends for a meal, where she mocked Korbie for having married a Thai man. Ella pointed out how Korbie married an Asian man when she doesn’t even like anime and that she told her, “Dude, you don’t like Asian. That’s my thing,” after her marriage. Moreover, Ella also kept referring to her ex-boyfriend as the “Indian guy.” As Twitter user @Alexis__tweets pointed out, “ELLA! ‘Indian guy’ has a name or you can at least refer to him as ‘my/the ex.’”

She's in love with her Asian fetish not the person who Johnny is.” Besides the generalization of the Asian culture, Ella also seems to have displeased a set of TLC viewers by giving away too much information about her sex life with Johnny. The graphic details of Ella using her toys and how she had a vibrator collection to match her dragon collection could have been left out, according to some fans.
Over the years, Ella has struggled due to her weight, and it has also led to her being burned by online boyfriends in bad relationships. The men in her past have tried to take advantage of Ella’s low self-confidence for their own financial gains. But in this case, Johnny’s true intentions will only get clearer when fans meet him in the next episode of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days. If there’s a chance of Ella not really having any feelings for Johnny, her family and friends suspect that he could be in it for a Green Card and money, and will leave her once he can’t get deported.
