Margate (CBS Miami)-On Thursday morning, a few hours before the opening of the Broward County Fair, gunfire broke out between two carnival employees, a 91-year-old woman living in a nearby senior living facility Was hit by a bullet.

According to Margate police, around 4:30 in the morning, two employees rioted on National Highway No. 7 and No. 1000.

During the quarrel, one of the employees pointed a gun at the other employee.

According to Andrew Preston of Worldwide LLC, the independent gaming operator of the Broward Expo, the two men were arguing over a woman when a man drew his gun and shot it into the air out of jealousy.

Police said two shots were fired, one of which was shot into a room in a nearby Waterside Landing senior living facility and hit a resident.

A spokeswoman for the facility said that no one there wanted to comment.

Margate Mayor Antonio Acerio told CBS4’s Peter D’Oench, “This is a serious situation and I can’t talk too much about it now. It’s an ongoing situation. The 91-year-old woman was transported to Broward Health North by Margate Fire Rescue, without life threatening.
