In the past years, we have witnessed the emergence of crochet in today’s fashion scene. We’ve seen its modern iteration online with Tiktok stars donning it, as well as on the beach, and even at the 2020 Olympics with British diver Tom Daley OBE.

The art of crochet fashion perfectly suits today’s craving for Y2K style. The latest to showcase that is Miss International 2016 Kylie Verzosa with her recent OOTDs. Channeling the vibe of music festival Coachella and Chun Li of “Street Fighter,” the actress donned a crochet ensemble inspired by a butterfly. While many of her Filipino fans adored her look. It looks like it is also making waves beyond the Philippines as it caught the attention of style icon Paris Hilton.

In one of her Tiktok posts, the American socialite commented, “Where is this outfit from?” To which Kylie has a hilarious response, “Wait send ko link,” shared through her Instagram stories.

The said piece is crafted by homegrown brand Cora and Cecilia led by Maricor Sombrio and Maricel Ycel Alaba Sombrio. Apart from the butterfly look, the brand has also produced crocheted tops, dresses, hats, and swimwear worn by Filipino celebrities like Sue Ramirez, Liza Soberano, and Lovi Poe.
