McDonald's announces its collaboration with the streetwear brand Cactus Flea Market to create adult Happy Meals with nostalgic figurines.

McDonald's revealed its collaboration with Cactus Plant Flea Market to create adult Happy Meals with blasts from the past toys.

As reported by CNN, the fast-food restaurant chain is hoping to appeal to older customers by introducing limited edition adult Happy Meals. "We're taking one of the most nostalgic McDonald's experiences and literally repackaging it in a new way that's hyper-relevant for our adult fans," Tariq Hassan, McDonald's USA chief marketing and customer experience, stated in a press release. Each purchase of an adult Happy Meal will come with one of the four available figurines: the purple giant Grimace, Hamburglar, Birdie or Cactus Buddy. While some may remember the first three characters, McDonald's specially designed Cactus Buddy for their collab with the streetwear brand Cactus Plant Flea Market.

To copy the brand's unique style, McDonald's designed both the Happy Meal box and four figurines to emulate Cactus Plant Flea Market's bright-colored attire. Customers can choose from either a Big Mac Happy Meal or a 10-piece Chicken McNugget. Both options come with fries, a drink and one of the four available toys.

Customers can purchase the adult Happy Meals at the drive-thru, by delivery or on the McDonald's app starting on Oct. 3 until supplies run out. If purchased on the app, McDonald's will enter customers in a contest every week to win items such as t-shirts from the collab with Cactus Plant Flea market and a Grimace chair. McDonald's will release more merchandise on its website once the adult Happy Meals release. However, the aforementioned t-shirt won't cost hundreds of dollars like the Cactus Plant Flea Market attire.

This is not the first partnership of its kind for McDonald's. In Oct. 2020, McDonald's collaborated with Colombian singer J Balvin to popularize his preferred order of a Big Mac, medium fries and Oreo McFlurry. Additionally, the fast-food restaurant partnered with Pokémon in 2021 for its 25th anniversary. Lucky customers received a Happy Meal box designed as a Pikachu with collectible trading cards. However, some people turned around and sold the cards online for around $1,000.

In June 2022, the Japanese branch of McDonald's collaborated with Gundam to create a new trio of burgers for customers. The specially designed burgers had flavors like garlic teriyaki and spicy cheese slices with jalapeños. McDonald's enclosed each burger with Zaku-designed wrappers.

The limited edition Cactus Flea Market Adult Happy Meals will be available at McDonald's restaurants across the United States on Oct. 3.
