Pumpkin Spice Lattes are back at Greggs from tomorrow to 'spice things up'

"It might still be summer, but it’s time to spice things up."

It may only be August and it may technically still be summer, but everyone’s favourite hot drink is returning to the menu at Greggs from tomorrow.

That’s right, pumpkin spice latte season is nearly upon us.

Although August still spells summer for many of us, there’s no hiding the fact that we’ve been under some gloomy skies with heavy rain here in Greater Manchester this week, so in reality, it couldn’t be a more ideal time for Greggs to announce that its Pumpkin Spice Latte is back at stores nationwide from tomorrow.

Starbucks may be the place that most people associate with and head on down to for the classic autumn drink, Greggs’ version is always cheaper than its counterpart.

And apparently, it hits the spot just the same too.

The popular bakery chain took to its official social media platforms this morning to confirm the return of the drink, admitting: “It might still be summer, but it’s time to spice things up… Pumpkin Spice Latte is back in Greggs shops from tomorrow.”

Poking a bit of fun at the out-of-season unveiling of the drink, Greggs announced the news alongside some promotional pictures of two people sat on deckchairs on the beach, dressed in summer attire, surrounded by floats and beach balls and toasting a pumpkin spice latte.

Greggs’ new themed merch collaboration with Primark also features in the images.

The limited-edition Greggs drink is made with sweet pumpkin spice-flavoured syrup, and is topped with cream and sprinkles.

As with all of its coffee drinks, Greggs uses a blend of Fairtrade Arabica and Robusta coffee beans from Peru, Colombia, and Tanzania – which are slow-roasted to create a delicious flavour.

While the price of a regular-sized Pumpkin Spice Latte at Greggs varies and has not been confirmed for this year, last year, it started at just £1.95 per cup, and that meant it was around £1.35 cheaper than the Starbucks version.

It’s predicted that the price of the drink will have risen this year.

Fancy nipping to your nearest Greggs for a PSL tomorrow then? You can find your closest branch using the store locator here, and you’ll also be able to find out the opening times too.

A terrace house in Wigan that’s gone up for sale has raised some eyebrows this week, after a Twitter user shared photos of its chaotic interiors.

But it wasn’t dodgy wallpaper or terrible carpet that had set tongues wagging this time.

It was what the building appears to have been used for in its past life.

Images – which have now been removed from the listing – showed the remains of some green plants strewn around the two-bed property.

Other suspicious features include massive silver air ventilation systems, plastic sheeting all over the walls, loads of fans, and a garden hose attached to the bathroom sink.

It does appear that the home was used to grow some plants… and we’ll let you put the rest of the pieces together.

The original tweet said: “House search is going well.. absolute bargain, just in need of refurbishment” with a face palm emoji.

Questioning who the previous owner might’ve been, one person said: “Mr S Dogg it says on the deeds.”

Someone else added: “All you need is some compost, seeds , some replacement bulbs and you’re back in business.”

One person asked: “Did the agent just go straight in after the police left?”

Another joked: “Dunno what everyone is fretting about, the previous owner was just a very keen horticulturalist.”

The house is up for sale through an online auction with GOTO, who admit it needs ‘full modernisation’.

The listing for the Wigan house states: “Situated off Manchester Road and just off Belle Green Lane within close proximity of all local amenities lies this Two Bedroom Palisade Fronted Terrace Property.

“This property is in need of full modernisation throughout and viewing are advised.”

It’s actually not the weirdest property listing we’ve stumbled across in recent weeks.

A home in Huddersfield was listed last month which had the previous owner’s actual remains buried in a tomb in the back garden.

The water level in the Bridgewater Canal has been lowered this week, revealing long-lost secrets of the deep.

Locals have noticed some new objects sticking up from the water of the waterway in Castlefield.

And while they look a bit creepy, Mancs are – naturally – seeing the funny side.

The water has apparently been deliberately lowered for some maintenance work, but we imagine the engineers getting a bit of a surprise to find a knackered Golf GTI sunk into the canal bed.

The rusted, window-less vehicle is now clearly visible from the towpath – and it’s not alone.

People have also spotted another car, in a similarly rusted state, abandoned underwater further up the canal.

Since the images of the Golf were shared on Reddit, people have been making the same joke, referencing an old viral video showing a man stuck in a ditch being told ‘You can’t park there sir.’

One person joked: “Can’t park there mate.”

Another recurring theme has been people trying to work out how the car has ended up so far into the canal – a good few metres from any roads or access points.

People have theorised that it must have been driven at some speed to end up in its position.

One asked: “Im impressed by how far in it is.”

Another said: “It’s so far in it. How did they do that?”

Someone else made a connection to Coronation Street, referring to notorious soap villain Richard Hillman, who drove his family into the canal in 2003 while 19.4 million viewers watched on.

But most surprising of all is the person who’s come forward and claimed the car as their own – genuinely.

They wrote: “I sh*t you not I had a golf mark to GTI stolen in Manchester about 20 years ago and it was never found. If that’s an E reg and ends with KWK we might have just found it.”

Think it might take quite a bit of TLC to get this poor little car back on the road…
